In most countries posts must be inspected by law, at least once a year. Maintenance contracts are offered in the Netherlands for regular inspection of fixed posts.
In the Netherlands, to maintain compliance with the Dutch law on Police Traffic Enforcement Equipment, radar and traffic light cameras, with speed, have to be calibrated annually. Equipment from the Netherlands and Belgium is first checked thoroughly at Gatsometer BV, to avoid unnecessary loss of time and money. The equipment then undergoes calibration at the Dutch national measuring institute (NMi). UK equipment undergoes a complete calibration procedure at Gatsometer's location. This procedure includes certification to comply with the Home Office requirements.
